Welcome to the Milky Way (Schoodic Institute – Session 1)
Amateur astronomy Richard Luecke will explain our current understanding of the Milky Way. Indoor presentation from 7:30pm – 8:30pm on Thursday, August 21st. Weather permitting, attendees invited outdoors for a laser-guided tour of Maine's night sky and viewing of star clusters, nebulae through a large astronomical telescope (8:30 – 10:00pm). Bring binoculars, dress warm.
Stars Over Schoodic (Session 1)
Amateur astronomer Richard Luecke takes you on an indoor, 50-minute image-enhanced journey along the Milky Way and prominent summer constellations. Meet in Moore Auditorium 7:30pm – 8:30pm on Saturday, August 23rd. Weather permitting, venture outside for a green laser tour (8:30 – 10:00pm) and telescope viewing.

GHS Program: Corea in the 1940’s: The “LOBSTERTOWN” film
Prospect Harbor Women's Club 63 Main Street, Prospect Harbor, ME, United StatesA screening of the classic documentary film “LOBSTERTOWN,” which captures village life and the people of Corea in the late 1940s. Commentary will be provided by Nick Woodward, MPBN and a Corea resident, and by locals who recognize the individuals and places depicted in the film.
2025 Painting Retreat in Acadia with Philip Frey
Plein air painting retreat for dedicated landscape painters. Held in Acadia National Park and Schoodic Peninsula. Led by artist Philip Frey. Daily on-site painting, afternoon demo/critique. Sunrise Trail Coalition Ride in and Picnic (Cherryfield)
An annual picnic hosted by the Sunrise Trail Coalition where participants can ride, pedal, or walk on the Sunrise Trail to Cable Pool Park in Cherryfield.
