Climate Change, Fall Foliage, and Leaf Peepers in Acadia National Park with Dr. Stephanie Spera

October 18, 2022 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

October 18, 7PM – 8:30PM
In conjunction with the 2022 Acadia National Park Science Symposium, we invite you to join us for a free evening lecture with Dr. Stephanie Spera, Second Century Stewardship Fellow and Assistant Professor of Geography, Environment, and Sustainability at the University of Richmond.

Autumn has been referred to as “the neglected season in climate change research.” Yet, understanding the effects of climate change on autumn phenology are critical for regions like New England, where fall tourism (“leaf peeping”) is a billion-dollar industry. The goal of this research is to understand how changes in temperature and precipitation have affected the timing of peak fall foliage in Acadia National Park and determine the effects of changes in fall foliage on fall visitorship.

Attend in-person at Schoodic Institute’s Moore Auditorium or online via Zoom.
